After I stopped shatting myself, I began to think why this happened. When driving along an A road, I had the air con on low and it eventually got too cold. So instead of turning the blower off I just turned the A/C off instead. When it got too warm I pressed the A/C button. To my surprise, what looked like grey smoke looked as though it was billowing out of the centre air vents. There was so much it came past our shoulders and towards the back seats.

Thinking my Surf had caught fire, I quickly stuck my face into the mist to see what it was - since it smelt like the inside of a freezer, I didn't steer into the trees and jump out without stopping.

All that was needed was a few coloured bulbs and some louder music and it would have been a pure retro top of the pops event.

Also, today I had the rear air vent on cold whilst the air con was on. It does blow cool air but I cannot tell if it's "air conditioned"

The rear air vents on my Surf won't blow anything BUT cold air.

Don't worry about the puffs of smoke, this has been discussed before, and back in the day that I had working air con mine used to do it.

As for the rear blowers, they are not conected to the air con system, so you'll only get cool air, and not COLD air.

The rear air vents on my Surf won't blow anything BUT cold air.

see the brass pipes in the middle
there is 2 pipe join that on the underside
take em off and blow the system out
it will be blocked with crud or rad weld
hose pipe fits nicely
dont for get to burp the system after tho
i blow the back one out
then i go to the 2 pipes on the bulk head and take one off and flush from there too
all clean and claer after that

There isn't anything that annoys me most, than something that should work, that doesn't = i.e. broke!
Wouldn't you prefer to have it fixed? Especially on a day like today.. It's great when you have to go somewhere and your car is like a fridge

It's not broke (anymore) it's gone. I'm ashamed to say she is nolonger my daily drive, I run a Mondeo estate which has fully funtioning air con. On the 2.4 they put the air con rad under the enigne, just where all the mud gets plastrered, so one trip off road and it's bunged up. Last year I took the rad and fans out, and cut the belt off (the pulley had seized, and this fixed it). My girl is slowley moving towards a toy now.

Yes the air con was very much a necessity today.

surf that is when i ripped the carpets out and glued black sand to the floor

the shed tiz a big 2 story shed
i need the space a rock cutter dont seem the same in the house
the wife has put her foot down to mi mad projects being done in the house

so iam moving out i mean iam making a shed to do all this in
6inck thick concrete block inner walls and out

stops me hurting owt when i make mi big magnet well i can only hurt mi sen
