  • Heater Control Illumination

I've fancied doing this ever since I saw Ian (Popeyes) excellent job.

Finally managed to get my ar-se into gear last weekend (mainly due to the forum being down) and set to work fitting this mod.

Really brightens the dash up and now I can see where the heater controls are set in the dark!

Looks even better when coupled with the plasma dials on the instrument cluster!

I also fitted the replacement perspex cover that Vince kindly donated.

I bought the controls with the LED's already fitted but I would imagine they would be a bit of a pain to fit and wire up if you weren't good at that kind of thing. Installation itself is pretty straightforward, although you do have to take the dash to bits.

As long as you can get the heater cables routed back into position its quite easy. I tied wire to the old cables when I pulled them through the bulkhead etc. It was then just a matter of tying the wire to the new heater cables and drawing them back through.

You're right Ian, I did get it from Rod. As you say he never fitted it and I got it after he bought his Jaguar.

Just like to say you made a cracking job of it mate!

Engine has to run a little faster to illuminate the dials mate!

                        T.B.H. Vince, I'd never noticed.

Could be that the needle is slightly out after the dial face change?

It'll just cost ya the led's, they aint much tho, and whatever postage etc, your best bet is buy a replacement unit from say Rich, i'll do it and then send it on to you, you can then replace it in a day, means you aint got the dash in bits of several days, afraid i dont work fast,

ment to add if your replaceing the unit make sure the replacement is the same, early ones (i think) didn't have the push buttons, (i could still probably relight those tho)
