  • knock sensor

Can anyone help me locating the knock sensor on my 2.4TD ssrx. The engine code is reading knock sensor but I don't really know where abouts it is. I was going to have the cambelt changed as it was losing power and I don't know when it was last changed. It had an engine fault and after checking with the diaognastic plug it came up with 12 flashes I checked and this results in knock sensor. How much should I expect to pay to get this repaired.

    Thanks

    Wardy

12 flashes equal timer control...this can be a fatal pump condition.
    Non intercooled nothing.

It's located on the block under the fuel pump, if nobody has a spare one I have one somewhere.

Rich (Stormforce) will probably have one.

Just a thought if it is the knock sensor you should have a diesel knock..................If I'm wrong I stand corrected.

There is no Knock Sensor. 12 is Timer Contol Valve. It's on the fuel pump. It could be the timing belt that has slipped a tooth or more. Check that first.

Just to set the record straight, there isn't a knock sensor as such, the sensor discussed here is the crank position sensor, it works with the timer control valve circuit to stop the motor knocking by comparing the amout of fuel advance, vs the crank position, but it can't actually detect a knock.

And I cleaned the thread up.
