  • Mitsubishi GTO

An amount of money has fallen in my lap, so to speak, and as I'm having a mid life crisis (again) I fancied a GTO for the summer. Had my eye on one on Ebay which was local so would have viewed before purchase.

Checked the insurance and ouch! Don't know if they would have taken the fact I have 2 other vehicles with full no claims into account but starting without a no no claims bonus it came to £915 with a £850 excess! With full no claims it was £485.

Perhaps I was being niave but it didn't expect it to be that much. Hey ho, another pipe dream gone up in smoke.

They are nice to drive, nearly bought one before we got the Clio.(Clio made more money on the re-sale)
The turbo version is a neck snapper and you'll be able to stick to Apache's bumper on all but the very twisty roads.

I said a certain amount of money mate, not a lottery win!

Anyway the only people I've seen driving Westfields are blokes in their 50's who have a little beer belly and are going thin on top!

Oh, hold on, that sounds exactly like me!

GTO's nice, if a bit too big for a sports car. More of a nice comfy distance-eater. It's what puts me off Supras. Having said that, the GT4 gives the feeling that its just slightly too wide. Its 5" wider than a Surf!

Was looking at this the other day, nice summer car - roll on my double garage!!

I owned a Spitfire back in 1976. Great little motor, only trouble was it kept overheating. Knew nowt about fixing cars back then so ended up part exing it for a Ford Cortina Mk3 GXL!

Me too, back in 2001, same as the one in the link above, but 1500cc.
Too small for me though, had to crawl out of it each time and flies used to hit my forehead when driving!

                I'd love a 1974 GT6 though and fit a Lexus V8 in it.

I actually like the fact that its got a small engine, and is light and basic. I know you cant get big power from sensible sized engines without high tech, but there's a lot to be said for back to basics seat of the pants motoring

                        I am.

I've had a venison burger, and a chilli hotdog. I'm just waiting for the bananas with White choclate melted on them to arrive.

Sounds like gas is being used.
