  • So Near And Yet So Far

This Escort Cosworth is for sale only 3 miles from where I live, although it may as well be on the moon! If only I had £30,000 spare. I love these cars.
Here's hoping for a big lottery win tomorrow.

I like it too. Not often you see an unmolested original these days. Most have Halfords tat glued on and various bolt on 'goodies' to make it 'faster' - apparently.

Its a nice enough car. Big novelty factor is that its in original "timewarp" condition, but despite all that I still think that anyone who pays that for it, wants his bumps feeling.

"this car will not be be given away" Really ?? then I suggest you keep it.

I think the insurance quote on it will be scary.

Nice but 30K ouch!! and still on the original pirelli tyres, so a cosworth on 13 year old tyres nice.
My brakes dont work, so i made the horn louder.

Yes, £30k is high. However, I think £20k or possibly more would be a reasonable long term investment for a collector. A proper unmolested example of what was a rare car to start off with, will probably appreciate over time.

Have you seen the price of decent Mk1s and Mk2s these days??

That will make 30k plus easy.
I can't see you finding many with next to no miles.
It will be tucked away in a collection and become more valuable with the passing of each year.

You are buying very close to a one off.
If I had cash for a collection that would be in it. Right next to some MK1 and 2 rally escorts.
