how do i tell if i have snapped a front drive shaft or the front diff i can still engage 4x4 in hi and low and with the button i get a crack on full left lock the clog strikes again

Jack up the truck, the driveshafts are bolted on at tri-bearing housing so should be pretty easy to spot any damage.
Lift both wheels and rotate a good few tirns to identify if diff is noisy, I found the damage in mine by doing this, a clunk every few turns of the wheels indicated a tooth missing.Alan

On lock it sounds like it could just be a CV joint given up.
Easier and cheaper to buy a decent second hand shaft complete but if you decide on a new CV you can use the 'pipe method' to remove the old one from driveshaft.Alan
