what to buy

hi to everyone,

im looking for a reliable 4x4 to pull a horse box and something thats roomy for two dogs and kids,i have been looking at land rover discovery or isuzu trooper but have been advised to go japanese and especially a hilux surf ,from reading articles on your forum it appears that the 3.0 is the best version ,but im looking for the best economy possible and am wondering about the 2.4 but am concerned about apparent head problems can anyone advise me on the best buy

would go for the 3.0 for towing. Extra power will be better for towing and the difference between the 2.4 and 3.0 in mpg is minimal. Would go as far as to say you will get better mpg from the 3.0 when towing as it wont be working as hard as the 2.4

intercooled 3rd gen 3 litre. look for a '96 to '99 (P plate and above) roughly 4-6k from a dealer, 3-5k from private seller.

If its for towing a horse box, anything will do. you bu99ers never go faster than about 15mph anyway!
