Bump stops?

I get an odd noise on full lock. Not quite a grind and not quite a clang. A bit of reading here tells me it might be my 'bumps stops' and that they need greasing.

So, what are bump stops and what do I need to do to them?

look on the inside of your wheel when on full lock and all will be revealed

I believe the phrase is 'graunching'... I get a graunching sound on full lock.

anyway, take a look with your wheels on full lock and you will see where some rounded bits of polished metal are near or touching the wheels. These should have a plastic cap and be full of grease. The caps break and fall off, the graunching is the metal-on-metal contact.

you can get new caps and pack em. but they will likely come off again.

just chuck some grease on the stops anyway if you want to.

your absolutly correct, paint brush with grease on it, dab the stops and the wheel stop plate and roberts you farthers brother

Well, when you need to lube the old gal's bump stops there's no substitute for getting right in there

Use copper grease. On the bump stops.

I hate it when that happens on full lock, I'm sure people look at the truck waiting to see if a wheel fall off or something cos it sounds so bad.

I just take wider corners these days.......
