Hi Lee, just a thanks for what you sent, very unexpected and not nessicery mate, but most welcome as i'm scrapeing the bottom of the barrel, only to pleased to help and wish it had gone smoother, still waiting on an RSJ so any future jobs should be brown stain free, hows it going re the inner CV's? hope you get the truck up together ok, thanks again, ian

No worries mate, least i could do. Not got the CV's looked at yet, noticed a split inner boot the other day when sticking the new hubs on though, so i'll get it booked in somewhere soon. Any idea how long it should take a garage to change an inner CV boot? A bloke down the road said he'd do it for 65 quid and would take an hour and a half. Other than that all seems fine, got manual hubs off Richard and got the alignment done for 25 quid. Nice not to have screeching tyres anymore and seeing people on the pavement turn round in horror as they think a Dodge Viper's about to come haring round the corner in full drift...

Ok, it was a tyre/mot place as well so i wasn't too confident with them doing it anyway. Hubs went on fine, but one of my 'end of driveshaft centre bolt/washers' at the end of the drive shaft (described in step 7 of this thread):

        http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...ht=manual+hubs

was missing. I don't suppose it's necessary anyway?

Oh yeah and i need to pay you for that window motor. You still got it?

        Cheers.

I never had them fitted but i think they are meant to be to stop the shaft moving in and out

That was a good price for the alignment, did that include the camber? did you ask/contact TonyN about the inner CV's? at least with the manual hubs it's useable, good luck with it

That bolt/washer in step 7!! when i first fitted these hubs i replaced this bolt and washer as Vince describes but when i came to take the hubs off for replaceing the discs i found both side bols and washers had come out and were loose in the hub, i did refit em but fully expect em to come off again, i think there to stop end play on the shaft but aint sure if there doing any good, just put em back in case

No, all they did was the <track rods?>, with the lasers on the front and back wheels. So i suppose the camber and maybe the caster still need doing for a full alignment?
The camber looks fine now, how will i know if it's still out?
The handling feels fine now at 50ish but i haven't had it above that yet since it was done. Still haven't found out about the CV issues, need to get on that tomorrow. All this stuff would be so much easier if i didn't have a huge physio bill to pay at the end of this month...
