  • Cured annoying rattle!

    Hi Folks,

Had an annoying rattle on my truck for some time and finally tracked it down yesterday. The rattle occured when going over an uneven surface and sounded a bit like a loose heat shield sort of noise.

It was actually the inboard end of the steering damper rattling, I took it all apart, added some copperslip and refitted tightening the bush bolt a wee bit further and all the rattle has gone

I can now drive with the drivers window open and not get annoyed!!!!
    Matt.

I think the root cause of discos failing, is that there are so many rattles and squeaks and bumps and ticking noises when it's running well, that you'd never know a dodgy one from the cacophony of background din.

            lol

            I'm serious!

I've had an annoying rattle for some time and haven't managed to cure it yet. Sounds as though it is somewhere near the front and as you say it's only on uneven ground/bumps in the road. F£$%ing annoying though particularly when the windows are down.
