  • Tyre Noise Strange But True

I bought a set of General Grabber AT2's back in December to swap with my Marshall muds. At the time the snow was pretty thick on the ground and they performed well. However once the snow was gone I thought there was a wheel bearing on the way out or a rumble on the discs.

I changed back to the Marshalls to do some green laning and all the noises went away. Last weekend changed to the Generals again and all the noises are back! I always assumed that AT's would have been quieter than muds, but evidently I'm wrong?

Tis strange, you've kinda put me off them now.

Been looking at some toyo open country A/T, they seem ok by all accounts.
If its not broke don't fix it.

Whats the price range you are looking at with these tyre options?

Get your tracking looked at then, mine don't make any noises and I have them on both trucks.

Will do Vince, but if the tracking was out wouldn't the Marshall muds be more noisy? The muds have some road noise but the GG's make a strange 'whirring' sound.

Maybe it's just me that thinks the sound is unusual?

I just last thursday got tyres swapped about and the tracking done. I have cooper stt( wouldn't recommend them). The noise had turned, within 2 days, into a pretty vicious wheel wobble. Get the tracking looked at jim.

Mud tyres are generally a softer compound, so if the truck has too much 'toe in' they'll just wear down quicker rather than make any more noise.
