missing front teeth

nice pic of my missing front teeth to the front diff. I think i broke the TC and front diff at the same time when at bala last year. Only noticed it when doing the ADD delete on the surf http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/add/ when dropped the oil i found this



quick question to my understanding the front diff has 27 teeth and the back has 30 teeth and the TC give 50/50 power to front and back and rotates at the same time
so even in a straight line you would get wind up so unless you are off roading on surry and all wheels can spin freely then there will be strain on the front diff and TC??

Front and rear are or should be same ratio.

You might be thinking of axle splines. Front is 27 and I think rear is 30.

yeah thanks Nev thats where i must have got the figures from but have just looked at the is tech site

and the front diff is 7.5" and has a ratio of 3.89
back diff is 8" and has a ratio of 3.90

this would suggest that the front and back do rotate at different speeds even in a straight line?? Any thoughts?

Hope not because of the amount of time I have used 4 wheel drive in a straight line just to give it some use.

your reading it wrong, your axle code will be G294 (for example), which is G/29/4

G = 8" diff ( the rear one) 29 = gear ratio (4.10's, both diffs) and 4 = pinion type (4 pinion)
