If the symptoms are getting bad, get to A&E and bypass your ####er of a GP altogether. You can get referred from there to a specialist. Make a big fuss if they mention your GP - he's a monster, makes Joseph Mengele look humane etc etc.
A&E iam there a lot they get sick of seeing me you can see it in there faces they not fully sure what to make of me
iam not on Antibiotics
i do have them tho every few mounths but i hate taking them
iam on
2 x 50mg trammadol
2 x 30/500 cocodomol
1 x 100mg diclafinek

i have problems with drugs working on me thats why i have to take so many at a time and they dont do realy much
the cyclazine is about the best thing i take (tiz for antisickness)

Blimey, and I don't even like taking paracetamol!!
The chances are (unfortunately) your going to be more clued up about your condition than most of the (first point of contact) Dr's you see.
Just had a quick read up on diverticulitis, it sounds like you need to be taking your antibiotics if you can, even if they dont have much effect, I take it thats down to your body not processing what you put in it properly.
Im bias being into beekeeping but have you looked into trying Manuca UMF rich honey?

Id say its well worth looking into as Ive read many articles relating to its positive effects with digestive complaints, only sting is the higher the UMF (5+ to 20+) it gets to about £40 a jar (cheaper on interweb). Im a similar age to you and Id be right down in the dumps if it was me. My family are all in the NHS, (Im the black sheep being in IT) if you feel like your not getting anywhere Ill see if they can proffer a different route to get treatment or at least be able to provide a list of specialists in your local(ish) area. If you can hassle the one Dr that did diagnose you, do so as they will refere you to a specialist at some point. Id say your age is a big plus point in getting referred, push for it. If you dont get anywhere soon deffo get intouch on here or chris_thompson@scee.net
