I take it you haven't seen the vehicle itself?
From the poor pictures offered, I think the owner is being a 'little economical with the truth' regarding it's condition.
'Just a few scratches'? Seems a bit more than that looking at the front bumper alone. Why no pics of the interior or engine bay?
Why haven't the wheels & tyres been cleaned for the pics like the body has?
And take a look at the bidding so far.
Could be prefectly innocent but I get alarm bells!

Could well be a good vehicle but I would advise extreme caution before throwing that kind of money at something that is vaguely described & you haven't seen & tried first!

Looks like a honest well used truck to me, if it was well looked after with shiny alloys and no scratches it'll be twice the price.

I like it, especially at that price if its mechanically sound.

Looks okay to me. Evidently the guy must take some care of it as he's just done the timing belt and had new tyres fitted. Some folk don't take a lot of pictures, I've seen some vehicles for sale with just one picture.

And why would he wash the tyres for the picture? I can't see anything wrong with the bidding either, four bids from three different people.

                      lets see then!

well, I suddenly got nervous, as its so blandly described and i'm high bidder....

thing is, its 65k miles on the clock, 1996. He says HE has never offroaded (yep, I know, that means nowt if somone else has been a plonker with it...). Its got 4 mew maxxis boots (cheap n cheerful?) - but I have 4 khumo AT Road Ventures on the 2.4 I can swap over... assuming these are 15" - are they???
Hes sending more photos and i'll query other stuff prior to buying.

Worst case scenario, I back out, I get e-bay boll0cking, and he offers it to bidder 2.
however, its a long way to go to see it.... 5 hours and 70 quid one way on the train.

Anyone up that area can got look for me????? i'll pay you for your time.

                            bugger.

                            ah well.

just talked to the seller - he 'sounds' sincere. hes emailing me more pictures including engine bay and interior.

hes gone an bought a newer Jeep, and wants rid of the surf. claims never off-roaded, 3k miles a year on the insurance (same as me as it happens) and has been used occasionally to pull a horse box.

all in all, even if it needs some work, such as new springs, its still good for the cash. except if the heads blown of course!!!!! But if I win, i'll check on that by running it a while and checking for excess pressure, etc.

I know you can't EVER be too sure with an e-bay motor.... buyer beware, eh?

You can't, but sometimes you just have to go with it, or you'll be looking forever.

There's nothing there to ring any alarm bells, some of the most shiny, well polished trucks I've worked on are basket cases mechanically.
