  • Insurance.

    Hi folks.
I am just about to buy a Hilux Surf Gen 3, 2.7 petrol SSRX. My current insurance company can not find my vehicle listed, as all the ones it has are Diesel and not petrol. Can anyone point my in the right direction of an import specialist who might be able to assist with my insuring the vehicle.
Has anyone else had similar problems?

Have you tried Adrian Flux? They can be a hassle to deal with sometimes but they have been the cheapest by far for me and gave me a quote just like any other car I had insured in the past. Say you are a member of the Hilux Surf owners club and you receive a discount.
    Oh Nana, what's my name?

Is that a 2.7 Petrol Gen 3? If so, what do you think of it? How is it on the juice?

        Thanks

          Yes.

You won't be disappointed with it, it's quiet, smooth and power is instant, no turbo to wait for.
They have a timing chain, not a belt so no worries in that department. The engine produces 150bhp from the factory, but can be tuned and turbo'd to well over 200bhp.

MPG is roughly the same as the 3.0 diesel around town or short journeys, but low to mid 30s on a longer run. I got 34 to the gallon on a run up to Chester and back to south Wales last year.

Cheers for that. I am picking it up on Saturday, then doing a 260 mile motorway run back to Chester, so that should be fun. Fingers crossed its a good'un.
Pictures to follow once i have it back home. (if i can sort insurance out.)
