1st gen 2.4 fuel pump to 2nd gen 2.4

could i fit the fuel pump from my 1989 1st gen 2.4 onto my 2nd gen 2.4 ?is there any difference?

Depends if the 2nd Gen is EFI, if it is, then nope.

How do you know you need to replace the pump, all you've been told is fuel isn't reaching the engine, so look at the cheaper/easier items first;

Fuel filter.
Fuel primer.
Blocked tank breather.
Condition of hoses to and from primer.
Loosen off the nuts at the injectors and crank engine until fuel spurts out.

If none of the above sorts it, then start looking at the pump itself.
