          Fair enough.
If you were fitting mud tyres to your everyday wheels, your V6's appaling mpg would drop even further.

A/T tyres work just as well by the way and they'll last longer too, saves buying another set of wheels.

will they be as effective as a set of muds?

I run on BFG A/Ts. Good on or off road. Not as much road noise ar M/Ts and you wont slide all over the place on wet roads.

If you want a second set then give Silverline a call and get a set of cheap and cheerful muds on wheels for around £400,

                Cheers, Nick

95% of the time, yes, and then you wont need to change wheels every five minutes. I had two sets of wheels once, with muds on one set, and its a right PITA changing them so I ended up doing everything on BFG ATs (and never ever got stuck)

Unless you're doing anything really really extreme, you'll be fine. Driver skill and the ability to pick a line is much more important.

Ever seen the offroading tracks at Eastnor? Did it all in a Defender on worn road tyres years ago, with guidance from a Landrover Advanced instructor.
