Where's the water going?

Because summer's here now, whoo hoo! I done a coolant flush a couple of days ago. There wasn't anything wrong, I just needed something to do.
Anyway, since doing the flush, I have been checking the water level every journey and I have always had to top it up.
Could be just an 'air lock' thing. but I noticed that the top hose connection on the rad was a bit wobbly.
Are these a fixed i.e. soldered connection? or does the tube go into the rad with a flange and gasket behind?
what I'm asking is.. Should this pipe be loose? I think I can see water weeping from the connection.

I had exactly the same problem with my 2.4. I had the odd visible crack which I soldered up with no problem. I thought I would give the flange a go too and all I did was made the hole worse.
It does look pretty gone. If you do give it a go, drain the water so that it doesnt zap the heat from your solder gun, and be prepared to buy a new rad, and not use your truck whilst it's delivered

I took the rad off today, I took it to a radiator repair place, they will solder it up and pressure test it for about a tenner.
While I had the rad off, I thought I might as well throw on a new Belt and roller and tensioner.
Prepared for a laugh I rang a parts shop in town and asked if they had the parts.
I fell on me arse when they said they had it all in stock!!!!
120 Euros for belt, pulley and tensioner.
We will see tomorrow, I still can't believe it.
Actually Nev, although it looks rough (I have soldered a few cracks on the top) the rest of the rad looks in good enough nick. Plus I don't really want to fork out for a new rad + shipping.
