    Hello Fellow Hilux Fans...

I am looking for a restorer for my HiLux Station Wagon. Ideally in the South of England but quality and reliability are more important than location.

The vehicle is an import and while it has an unusual body most of the mechanicals are standard.

The scope could be right through to body off and chassis galvanise if I can find the right restorer. Probably start with a lesser scope to see how we go...

    Any advice appreciated.

    James.

When you say "restore" to what level of restoration do you want to go to? Do you mean restore it to roadworthy condition, show and go, or are you talking concours - now that would be something?

      Cheers, Nick

A full concours restoration of a Surf would be some task! Would like to see it done, but it's not my bag. And I don't think it would be possible to do a body off restoration in stages, it would need to be done in one go.

As for restorers, look in the old Land Rover magazines or the Classic car magazines, there will be some in there.

Thanks guys...There are so many horror stories about the cowboys in the motor trade. As soon as the OEM cover is finished it's time to find a specialist.

Initially I would like to get it running so I can tow my trailer move logs etc., assuming the MOT can be passed.

                      James.

Jokeing aside, i'm not sure how far you want to do a restore but if you mean a clean and underseal you could find a good steam cleaning co and get the underside cleaned, then if you buy the paint/underseal etc and are prepaired to travel here i'll do it for you, i did mine some time back and had a few cans of chassi paint i'd "aquired" and just blasted the stuff all over,
if you mean replaceing stuff like mounts and bushes etc then i wouldn't bother
                        just renew as and when!!,
you dont have to go the hammerite route
1, red oxide, 2, chassi paint, 3, hammerite,
