Picked up my first Surf last night - 2.4 2nd gen - fab condition, well looked after, already had its head sorted - 5 new tyres, recently serviced, interior immaculate - never been offrad or been a towing workhorse etc etc.
So all in all very pleased - has the double din TV/DVD screen in the front as well but the guy gave me a new centre consol incase I want to switch to a normal head unit. Nice gent also gave me his grease gun as well for all the hard to reach lube areas
He had also ordered new Surf Decals for up the side so if I like them I might change over from whats on.
Anyway - I have some minor plans - change the wheels and tyres to some BFG's etc as its road tyres on at the minute and I am sure I will have lots of questions.
Look forward to being an active part of the site and will have to get myself one of them stars!
Anyway heres a quick pic
Surely you're not considering off roading in a Beautiful Surf like that?!
You've obviously gone to a lot of trouble to buy one in great condition & no doubt payed accordingly, so why get it wrecked?
Off roading is great with the right vehicle, i.e. one you don't mind scratching & denting, but not in this one! Please say you won't!
To hell with the mud I say!
(Now waiting for backlash! Lol)
Who's is the dark blue 2nd gen with the bonnet up in the last pic?
peace

Sold on and had a number of off road toys since.

Why buy a big thirsty 4x4 and drive it where normal cars can go? That's a bigger waste of money than hammering one off road.
I was really precious about my surf when I first got it, but after a couple of outings with an1mal_69 and mudskipper I've realised what an awsome "out of the box" off-roader a surf really is, thing that let me down in Bala was the tyre pressure gauge at asda it's off by a couple of bar , instead of 1.9 bar I was at 2.1, not good for mud; to get the same performance out of a landy you've got to spend twice what you paid for it, yet my lump on less than 4mm tyre tread with a air intake mod and side steps off (I don't need them I'm 6 feet tall) went over stuff I'd normally expect to see on extreame youtube/TV like it didn't matter, seriousley impressed with it.
Mud cleans off, you can buff scratches out; but nothing will diminish the grin when you sail through. Even Halfords don't sell it.

Bala Mud, best underseal there is, only £30 per application.
I understand the comment as it is in really good condition for its year but after being borderline ocd about the cleanliness and shine of my cars in the past I dont need another obsession - Ive got my little MX5 to keep clean
I am also a great believer in using things to their full potential and as this is my first 4x4 I plan on using it well and maybe in a year or 2 I might get a newer 3.0ltr etc
Just getting used to the commanding ride height - I found myself ducking driving through the NCP car park at the airport as I was convinced I was going to hit the ceiling LOL
Next thing on the agenda is some new wheels and some silly sized tyres
