  • New Hilux - Ignition stuck

Got a Hilux a couple of weeks ago. 1995 3.0TD manual in black, beautiful machine!

Finally have some time to put it back to its former glory for some summer adventures! I can really use some help on a few issues I have.

Basically when I put the key in the ignition, the ignition gets automatically on 'on' position and no matter where I turn it its stuck there for good. I was not very good to start with as I had to jiggle the ignition from day one but now its a stuck on...

Any ideas on what I can do?

thanks mate. Will have a look, none on ebay unfortunately. Do you think there is any way I can 'fix' the existing one. I am supposed to move house next week er.... using the hilux lol!

Drove it to the house when I bought it and a few times after, but the starter needs work as well so at the moment its a non runner...

Give the gear lever a shove forwards as you try and remove the key.
The linkage can sometimes get sloppy and although the transmission is in 'P', the lever needs a nudge forward to release the ignition key.

            It's a manual.

What do you want a berrel for?

err... to replace it. As soon as I put the key in ignition the starter attempts to start (without actually turning the key to start). Probably contacts but I am not sure as I have not come across this sort of problem myself. It makes sense it is the barrel or not?

It may just be the switch rather than the barrel, but I doubt it. I could maybe get the ignition switch off my breaker if you want it.
