Thanks Rich will take you up on the offer as a last resort but was planning on getting started as soon as possible as its dragging on a bit now and i have a couple of days off next week to get things done (weather is getting better now!) so would rather get local if possible as even if posted today they will not get here till next thursday earliest (if the posties come up that is) and with courier it would be same price as getting a set for myself

I think that to change the springs is not necessary the "compressore per molle". It is sufficient lift the car and disassemble the Panhard bar. Perhaps also the tubes of the brakes. I have never used this tool, not even on my Land cruiser KZJ95.

Luigi's right, you dont need compressors, when i replaced my surf springs with land cruiser ones there was enough drop in the axel to pop the old springs out and with the help of a lenght of 4X2" timber lever the axel down enough to get the L/C springs in, i did first remove the ARB, the panard rod, and the upper radious arms bushes, this just leaves the axel on the lower radious arms and easy to move, just watch ya brake lines and unbolt the load compensator unit, (i just spaced this down to take the strain out of the flexable brake hose when replaceing,) also unclip the brake pipe leading to the compensator to stop it bending when you lever the axel down

Thanks Popeye thats kind of what i was going to (had saved the write up from searching a while ago but v.straight forward summary), but having read up on it (bit of a mech biff ) i thought it would be easier to get the compressors to save me time and from removing/disconnecting more than i had to as i cant readily get replacements and dont have a huge amount of tools.
I shall be on my own and first time doing it so wanted to keep it as simple as possible as im still kind of getting my confidence back up for doing a 2" bodylift next week (i know simple for some and i am clear on how to do it thanks to everyone on here but everyone has got to start someplace!), as i havent had a chance to get my hands dirty for a while
So i guess when they arrive i will get started.

                        Fingers crossed!

You'll be ok mate, just take your time, it aint too bad a job either replaceing springs or the body lift, i was on my own doing both, i haven't read all the threads so dont know if your just fitting L/C springs, longer surf ones or just stronger ones, for surf springs compressors will save ya undoing a lot of stuff but i'm not sure about useing em on the thicker l/c springs, when mine arrived i thought i'm never gonna get these buggers in and compressors will have a job squashing them ( not to mention em buggering up the nice blue paint on em) so i opted for undoing things, quite honestly the hardest bit (and that wasn't that bad) was getting the bolts back through the upper radius joints, but with some grease on the bolts and carefull jacking and widdleing they went in, i had to stick the bolt in one end while jiggleing the arm with a bar through the other end of the joint,

the lift is straightforward, easier undoing and doing up the bolts with help as the "captive washers" on the inside (top) come loose and the whole bolt turns, so ya need someone holding em or jam a socket and bar in the hold em, good luck with it

Ta for the advice much appreciated and aye dont think i will be rushing it!
Probably will do the latter with the bolts and its the roughtrax +2 springs so fingers crossed the thingys should fit (got the heavy duty ones), but if it all goes a bit wrong the write up is getting printed

                                Sorry missed this one!
Salve Gigitoyota, have been pulling my hair out trying to get parts and tools in italy!
love being here but maybe only till the summertime. Just a thought might be able to help with smaller parts (try some of the breakers here i.e stormforce as he is used to couriering parts to me on the italian system), and stuff from ebay.co.uk for the truck as milners.co.uk delivers through the normal system to me, then onto posta italia.
sorry my italian is so bad but on a nato post here and havent had much of a chance
to learrn but my moglie speaks a lot more than i do...then there is my daugher who kicks both our behinds (she goes to a local italian school)

Look forward to hearing from you!
