Guess what the wife can do with wine bottle

Hi Everyone - I hope that grabbed your attention however I am sorry that its not as interesting as that

I have become a Surf owner for the first time and am new to this board. I am really enjoying it bar the problems with the 4WD after a session in the local farmers field. Unfortunately it was not a session with the wife and it did not involve wine

the wagon is a KZN185 and basically the 4WD will not engage and the 4WD light keeps flashing. It won engage in H2/H4 by pressing the button or by shifting into L4L or H4L.

the light does go off after a while and when I try to engage it again it will start flashing but it does not become solid however the light will go off again if I de-press the button. When the light goes off and turned the engine off for 5 minutes or so it does not flash when i start it again but when left overnight it starts flashing as soon as i start it up

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this or know anyone in aberdeenshire that does?

I have had the vehicle into 3 local garages and no one can diagnose and toyota will not look at it because its an import

Nothing, but he posted this already and nobody responded. I think he was trying to get our attention.

There are a few threads on this subject. Try a search and see what comes up. It could be as simple as a vacuum pipe hanging off or it could be more complex, but Im sure Ive seen all the answers somewhere on the forum.

Yip - I am guilty of seeking attention. As far as i know all the wiring checks out and all the hoses are hooked up. I have read a lot of the posts about solenoids and sensors and have passed this info onto the garages that have looked at it but they come up with nothing - I must be going to the wrong garages!

Toyota won't touch it cos it's an import? Don't take that from them.

My local Toyota place in Stoke-on-Trent has been extremely helpful whenever I've wanted any info on either the Surf or my previous import Celica. They should have access to full parts catalogues from every market Toyota sell in if they're connected to t'intarweb. And they were even competitive on price (they were actually cheaper for a cam belt change on the Celica than anywhere else I went to get a quote from).

I suppose it might be down to the descretion of the individual dealer...

I called Toyota head office about it who basically said they cannot make them look at it! They pointed me to a Jap specialist in some place called London about 500 miles away.
