        Simon, go for it you won't regret it !

        I had the same unit as hormy about 6 years ago (it was dearer then too !) and it was fantastic - although it was a little sluggish on 'tap up' acceleration but this was on a very quick petrol car - so I don't think it would be a problem for the surf.

        My only small concern is how the magnets on the propshaft / halfshafts will fair when off roading...... they were only held on with cable ties back then !

        One litle tip - choose the location for the command stalk very carefully then tighten it up like hell - mine fell off numerous times

          well i have been looking into this, and the unit can either use prop magnets, or a speed sensor signal, which according the the wiring diagrams this model surf has.

            There is a speed sensor on the surf so no need for prop magnets.
            If you are fitting this yourself do not miss out the self diagnostics before using..
            Also if fitting to the 3ltr best place to mount the cable bracket is on top of the fuel filter.
            Will take some pix of mine if wanted
