  • adapter plate for nato tow hitch

hi to all, just joined and have a usefull idea for anyone wanting to use a pintle hitch/nato trailer.ive got a 3/4ton gkn sankey fast tow, which pulls fantastically behind surf, btw, and wanted to keep the nato type hitch.i have fabricated a system along the lines of the one used by land rovers which allows me to use normal ball hitch and nato hitch with minimal disruption when changing trailer type.if anyone is interested let me know and i will (try to,lol) post some piccys.i have tried posting a pic of my 4runner,but doesnt seem to appear as yet-ill keep trying.

          Interesting...

I'm after setting up a towbar on my surf at some point and any info on something different would be useful.

              Whats a "nato" hitch?
Too young to die and too old to give a toss

Military Hitch/claw that locks onto the round military trailer (Sankey etc) hookup loop.

I've just had a thought (steady on now). Maybe it would be worth your while speaking to these guys given that they sell ex-military vehicles?

A few years ago I was astounded by some 8 wheel drive multi terrain vehicle they'd got from the Norwegian army that was up for sale. Boy, that would've been fun to have a go in!

                            Hey,
Just found this thread, Pics look great.
What did you use to make parts up and does it bolt onto the standard mounting plate for normal tow hitch just like it looks?

Great idea on the hole for spare wheel btw I never thought of that
