switch under front passenger seat ??

just bought a 3rd gen 1996 SSR-X 3L Surf and found a Toyota branded black rectangular rocker switch (marked "OFF" on one side). It is cable tied to the crossmember under front edge of passenger seat. It has wires to it which disappear under the carpet, which i don't particularly want to pull up. Can anyone tell me what this switch does as nothing obvious happens in either position!
