What PSI do you run? (city driving)

Im just talking to my old man about the servicing we need to do over the next 6 months on the old girl... and i was wondering what do you guys think is a ballpark PSI for running 31"s on 15" rims.

the tire info sticker on the inside door suggests 25-29 for the 31s, but i dont know if that is for on road, off road, a mixture of both.... the tire itself is rated to 50 psi

im running them a bit harder at the moment, 34 in the front and 38 in the back... and feels good.

Any input anyone? this is for city / hwy driving mostly.

For ease of use I tend to run mine at about 30psi, When I was careful with the guage I used to run them at 36 with no discernable issues.

around the 32psi is about the norm front and back for most people
I got 36 front and back in my 33's but i tow 2.5t regulary and i find that better

My Gen 2 has the same = 28-29 psi all round. Drives fine to me at those levels.

Until I educated a friend of mine that the rating on the tire is the maximum and not what he should be running them at he was running his at 50psi for a while!

I only found out because he asked me why his handling and braking were so bad!

Pressure varies between tyre types, size and brands. Look at using the 2PSI rule (Google it if you don't know what it is).This will give you the maximum tyre life. Less pressure is usually specified by vehicle manufacturers for comfort rather than tyre life.

Bump the pressures up 2psi at a time until the bias shifts to a center pattern, and then back off (as a rule of thumb) 2psi. Running the tires too hard reduces the contact patch and will increase stopping distances.

This bit I know is correct. Also alters the handling, steering & wears out tyres quicker as well. (On ordinary cars anyway.)
