"after accepting commemorative medals for time spent with the Armed Forces"
It's still a medal. Although to be fair, it's the fact that they're being given the rank of major as well that seems to be narking people as much, if not more.

Aye getting a honorary rank is rubbish as some do think the rank actually means something for them ( i can see why an entry rank is given i.e for padre's but MPs when attached???), also the fact that yes it is just a commemorative medal but some of these numpties will wear it at remembrance day.........the money could be better spent...as could some common sense....rant done...signed
