    Hi All,
For the past week or two ive become more aware of a bit of a blank spot when pulling away from roundabouts. It may become evident on juntions as well but i notice it more when rolling into a roundabout (decelerating) and moving off without coming to a complete stop.
Does this ring any bells with anyone, or another effect of cold weather.?
    Thanks
    Nigel
PS Ive added my query here as it seems more viewed. Thanks

Yup, more or less but it seems to be more auto box related, as if the gears have to catch up with the revs, if that makes sense. BTW new ATF 2 months ago,

          Hi
bit diff to explain, but if you were to imagine slowing down towards a roundabout, (look left & right) nothing coming so you dont actually come to a halt, then accelerate to move off (in case someone comes hairing round) ten as i ROLL forward it seems it doesnt actally kick in gear wise for a few secs. Not much you might think, but is it, (if im not paranoid) signs of somthing failing.
As for kick down, if i understand the concept correctly, whikst travelling and push foot down hard, there is a slight delay, but the gear box is 20 plus years old.
However, ive only noticed this lag in the last couple of weeks.
          thanks

Have you checked the atf level ? I've had autos before that do this when they need a top up. It's like revving a manual and dropping the clutch....

Me too, but could also be the kick-down cable is out of adjustment.

There's a tiny rubber marker (blob) on the exposed part of the cable, (on the throttle housing end) that should be flush with the end of the threaded adjuster.

Thats a pretty good analogy, been that long since ive driven a manual. Thanks for the help decribing it.

Any pics any where so i can try to identify this "blob". I will be rechecking the atf level again. Thanks

Make sure the engine is warm and running when you check it. Give it a little shift through the gears (with your foot on the brake), stick it in park and read it then. If you read it cold or not running, you're getting a false reading.

Checked the ATF level this AM after a 12 mile run, dip stick wet up to the top notch (nearest the handle end) so i assume is almost bang on for a hot engine reading.
So if its not AFT, what else might give similar symptoms, havent a clue where to look for Bushwackers suggestion,(kickdown cable out of adjustment ?) if anyone can give me a step by step.
I swear that theres almost a bit of "slipage" for lack of a better desc as im driving uphill, (now that im paying more attention)
Any help really appreciated as caravan season closing in and im having doubts on its towing ability.
                        Thanks

Hi Bush, im not getting anywhere with trying to pin down this blank spot, could you be more specific where i can fing this kick down cable adjuster, OR, could it be when i had the Heater plugs changed, something has not been put back correctly or set-up as it was prior to whatever work was involved in changing the plugs.
                          Thanks,

blinkin hell, the thread is long enough, but i think ive located the cable,,, if im correct, there are two cables, one on a large half moon tupe assemby(with a track it runs over) and threads thru a horse shoe with a nut either side. If i wiggle the exposed wire, it moves from side to side in exsess of a !/4 inch....the smaller wire on a similar type of thingy, (nearest the windscreen direction) moves from side to side by again at least 1/4 inch. Does this sound as if they need tightening up ???
