what is everyones views on ebay and the dealing of messages like:
"how much for cash mate " or "will you take £60 for it"
is it right to end an auction early with bids on it............

for instance i'm selling an arcade machine at the moment that finishes tomorow
its up to £1.04 with 43 watchers ive had loads of questions like the ones above or "is it jamma" etc. which it turns out it is
i have only just started selling on ebay, i've been buying for years,
and if i were bidding on something and it just went off i'd be a bit miffed

so any way i've been offered £60 should i take it or let the auction run its cause...............

I've bid on a few things that have 'vanished' just before the end.
If you put something up for auction then it should run it's course.
But, as you know, money does funny things to people.

i sold a rayburn last week on ebay it made £207 not bad for a 40year old wood burning cooker but a guy came down to look at it offered me £300, but because i felt it would be wrong i declined the offer,..
      i'm happy with £207 but...........

Personally, I always let the auction run. The problem with taking the out-of-auction bids is that sometimes people then don't pay and you have to go through all the faff again and all the people that were interested the first time won't bid again because they know you pull auctions.

You can always put it on Buy it now or Best Offer if you want to take offers.

You do have the right to end an auction early & people using eBay should be aware of this. It is expected though to include in your description something like:

"I reserve the right to end auction early as item is advertised elsewhere."

You could revise your description to include the above. Stating this can sometimes help get a better price for a seller!

Auctions wherever they are are a gamble for buyers & sellers alike.
Just a case of keeping all options open.

If ebay see that, they pull the auction. I know, it's been done to me.

If someone is selling an item locally I sometimes ask if I can go and have a look first. I may then offer them an amount to end the auction, but let them know it's fine if they would prefer it to run it's course.

I've been bumped out of auctions a few times when the item has disappeared with a couple of days left to run.

Come on people, we all try it on in one way or another to get what we want!

i would end the auction early, unless your rich and can afford to maybe loose a potential 55 quid?

As to the person who sold the rayburn they go for more than £300 in non running condition...same with old aga's worth a mint as some spares are no longer available on certain models.

Its a bit of a fine line,if something you sell goes to a mate then sell it for less,if its going to a stranger take em for what its worth!they will only sell it on to make a tidy profit which should be in your pocket!

eBay ask those questions too remember. If you get caught selling 'off site' they'll delete your account as well.

You don't have to say it you can end for whatever reason you like.
No legal contract exist until the end of the auction.
