Nice and bright get some higher wattage bulbs in
Do you need to run a bigger alternator for that lot or is the Std one on Surfs fairly high output?
I've got a voltage monitor which said the voltage dropped from 14.1 to 13.7 when all were turned on, but it stayed stable at that for a good 15 minutes driving, so seems happy. To be honest it's a common enough mod that I didn't even think it might be a problem. Has anyone else fitted a bigger alternator for additional accessories?
Never liked him much anyway. We refer to him as the Friendly Neighbourhood Psychopath. I mean, who wears a boiler suit to walk a dog, and why does that hedge really need trimmed 4 times a week? And does Shine Jesus Shine really need played from the shed THAT loud?

I think the standard surf alternator has a max output of 80amps???
so going off your estimated 500w devided by your volt reading of 13.7 means you are pulling 36.5 amps just for those lights, plus a little bit more for rear lights/interior lamps and blower fan etc.
your alternator should be able to cope with that easily - unless you have an enormous stereo system with big amps and subs etc etc..
I think I remember reading that the headlight wiring loom was prone to failure. Something to do with the wire not being of sufficient diameter /rating to cope with the added current?

You might be risking a fire running those.
If wired in properly they will have there own wiring and relays
Perhaps you might want to become our resident Susannah and Trinny and dole out some advise on what the ideal garb for dog walking currently is.
I say this as I have been known to walk the dog with my boiler suit on, depending on the days other planned activities.
