Hi to all !

Have just 'inherited' a J reg surf SSG-R, which needs some TLC

I hope theres some knowledgable folk on here as I have a stack of questions.

1st one being...........how the hell do I get in the boot! (not opening)

Open rear window, lift up little button on inside of tailgate then pull up the larger handle tailgate drops down.

Hi Andy,

If you use the key in the tailgate to drop the window or with the ignition on use the 'up-down' button on the centre console to drop it, then lift the lock which is slightly left of centre on the gate & then use the handle to the right of it to drop the gate. Good luck & hope it works.

p.s. make sure the rear wiper is switched off or the window won't open either.

and the window lock button isnt pushed in on the drivers door control bit

Make sure the rear wiper is seated correctly or the window won't open.Wriggle the wiper arm while using the key to open the window

Much appreciated. Will give it a go tonight.

I can hear something clicking when I turn the key (left and right) in the boot lock, but there's nowt happening.

Will check the drivers side window lock button.
The switch by the gearlever for the rear window again, I can hear a clicking in the rear, but no movement.

Will report back with any progress............fingers crossed.
