Are these replacement heads to be avoided or are they ok?

I'd go for the premium kit from rougtrax.
Has all the bits including cam belt and its a reputable supplier

Cant go off e-bay feedback either on this one. If the head is no good, the buyer has already put positive feedback re: quick shipping, etc.

Avoid at all costs alan. When I hot this obe it had an eBay "spesh" on it. Lasted about three months. When it came off you could see where it had been stitch welded. Get a real one.
        Non intercooled nothing.

How can you tell? Because they want the old head in exchange?
            Roughtrax do the same.

              Alan,

Have you had a look at Bridge Cylinder Heads at www.cylinderheads.co.uk ?

£545+VAT+delivery for a complete head, brand new ready to fit. You get a 12 month warranty and they are a very reputable company. Delivery is £24 and if you only need the bare head you can take £100 off of the price above.

I didnt realise that they where exchange heads off r/t it would have to be a new head for me.
do the 3.0 heads crack like the 2.4? if not it might be just planed off and ok.

It is a new head. All the "exchange" part means is that you have to send your old one back to them.

I'd definitely go for the Bridge cylinder heads one. Its £130 cheaper for the same parts and about the best quality available.

Roughtrax and Stevo are the tried and tested options, but Im sure there are others too. Try autohead.recon in Inverness and see what they can offer. Google them and give them a bell. They do OE heads, and recon heads for all kinds of vehicles and plant including Toyota. A few years back I priced a 2.4 (3L) head from them and whilst not ebay, chinese cheap, they were cheaper than some others.

I think the tried and tested route is the way to go Alex.
The roughtrax kit comes with all the gaskets and bolts in one package.
