  • Air Intake Hose

Hey guys, i've just noticed that the air intake hose is split on my 3.0 3rd gen, there is a good condition one on ebay, but for a 2.4 2nd gen are they interchangeable ?
    Many thanks

Paid £18 for a silicone replacement one from Roughtrax, about £25 inc VAT and delivery. Use plenty of WD40 when fitting, its very very tight to get over the rigid centre section. Most of the original hoses from breakers are very brittle with age and will split when flexed.

No worries mate. Its intended for 2nd Gen 3.0TD but it will fit 3rd gen no problem. The hose is quite pliable.

I have noticed alot of people having issues with their old brittle or hard intake hoses, a trick i used to use on old 80's jap bikes was to either submerge the hose in hot (not quite boiling) water, or to boil the kettle and pour on, just helps to soften the hose for a little while. As long as you work fast, this should help to remove and refit most old rubber parts.

I personally wouldn't use WD40 to lubricate the hose. A wee smear of washing up liquid will be less harsh.

I use KY Liquid on all the hose ends, it works a treat, and won't degrade the rubber at all. Cos thats what its designed for......

I replaced mine with a blue silicone one from Roughtrax and it's easier to fit than an "original" one (at least thats what I thought).

I can't imagine that there is any perfomance diference so just buy the cheapest one unless you prefer the looks of one or the other!

                          Don't mean to hijack but....
Where did you get your scilicone hose from and whats the size needed, I'm reluctant to take mine off to measure up, coz it looks ###### awful, reckon it'll fall apart.
