Took the surf down some back roads just outside Manchester today. Managed quite nicely thankyouverymuch in 4 wheel drive while other folks were struggling. Apparently they've had about a foot of snow since christmas and its got nicely compacted on the road to a sheet about a couple of inches thick.
The reason I was there? To collect and ride home a motorcycle...
Couldn't get ANY traction from the rear wheel and had to push the damn thing a hundred yards or so over the skating rink to the main road (cleared and gritted thank goodness).
Rode it the 50 miles or so home and thankfully the thermal leggings, etc, I was wearing did the trick and I only got mild frostbite in my fingers!
Hopefully, the new bike won't come out to play again until the weather gets better.
I'm just sooooooo damn glad I've got the Surf!
