Hmmm I have a laptop on vista I was thinking of sticking back to XP.
I'll throw W7 on it then.

If your putting win7 on, make sure it's premium or you don't get the backwards compatability for hardware and software.

And it's definately better than vista.

Windows 7 is better than Vista and XP. And for people that don't know shell or MAC then windows 7 is the way forward. My laptop came with Vista, and it wasnt very fast to be honest. Now windows 7 is on there it is like a different machine. I've not had one crash or OS issue, and Ive been using windows 7 before it was released. XP is outdated now.
I use XP at home as a virtual OS because some software I use is not 64-bit compatable, therefore I run a 32-bit virtual XP machine for that software only.
There is a 32-bit version of windows 7 if you need that.

                    Re

                    Have to agree!

Windows 7 is great, it deffo pushes all my buttons.

I've been beta testing it since the first RC.

Microsoft made such a mess of Vista (money grabbing sons of biatches that they are) that they had to make 7 significantly better.

Unix etc. are very good also but not for Mr. & Mr's Taylor & family in No.26, if you know what I mean!

I think this vista and 7 thing was a scam by M$ to get you all to buy 7. They purposely made vista PANTS to get you to buy 7.

Vista was a kick out of the door release, much like millenium; it wasn't ready for release but M$ are in competition with Apple and Apple where releasing that year, so there it was.

I beta tested vista and most testers that posted all said the same "you can't seriousley be releasing this" I passed up on the free copys I was offered at the end of beta.

Win7 is a different animal, 7010 release was already better than vista.

I remember the Olympics commitee turning down vista, and requesting XP instead http://www.pclaunches.com/software/o...over_vista.php

Anyway I'll shut up now hehe
