take the motor/mech out the tailgate so the window will drop to allow him to open the tailgate

can you get the cover of then with tail gate shut.

yea climb in the boot and pull the carpet panel off and the unscrew the metal plate so you can get inside

Yeah do as Richard says after ya remove the metal panel n peel back the polythene sheet and look for the locking mechanism rods connecting tailgate lock and tailgate handle (it's a bit fiddly) but pulling pushing all of the lever lock n rods i'll sort it .. Look here Pics
