Well all I can say is that I've not found a P@jero/Shitgun that can stay with me when pulling a caravan !

i try not to race to much while towing a caravan but the surf would be faster as it as more horsepower at the wheels than the pajero

Theres no way the towing limit for a 3 Ltr surf is 1500kg.
Most sources say its about 2200kg but i'd say theres a few people on here that have towed more!
The 2.5/2.8 paj engines are obviously smaller so i reckon they have pretty similar towing limits.

Its a pity you couldnt stretch your budget to get a 3rd gen surf (Dec 95 to 2002). Test drive one & you'll see what i mean.

Well as we have both (Mitsy's the wifes) I'd definitely go Surf ....
Her 2.5 Mitsy was certainly no match for my ol 1990 2.4 walked over it n no way near my newer 2nd gen 3.0l ....

Good Luck whatever ya choose ...

There's always a Payback .. Cos ya don't know where n ya never know when !!

Well my user book quotes it...

I suspect that there's a few people who would be happy to see the details posted on here !

                Can you post:

                The User Manual reference
                Surf Model
The relevant GVM, towing weight etc

                Cheers !

                PS
Just checked my Toyota Owners Manual 1993-2001 (TOY342) and there's absolutely no reference to GVW or towing weight

hi casey would like to throw another 4x4 into the pot an isuzu bighorn but it must be a 3.1 lots of power for towing we have a 26 ft caravan and it pulled that a treat this summer supposed to be good off road haven't tried mine as i have a surf for that built like a tank as good on fuel as my surf .i find nicer to tow with as its swb .had a swb shogun loved it but it was very old had a 2.5 diesel in it pulled very heavy trailers with ease.not sure which car out of my surf/isuzu i would keep if i had to part with one .oh and i think the isuzu's are cheaper that shoguns but for the life of me cant think of a reason they should be .all the best steve
sssssssssshhhhhhhhh ps think id get the isuzu if i wanted a tow anything workhorse .i did tow with my surf but did't like the ride but then i have always thought that its top heavy unlike the isuzu which feels as though its stuck to the road like 5h1t to a blanket if you get my drift

I was looking for 4x4 a while ago, and amongst the newer 4x4s the surf has one of the lowest towing capacities out there.

Have you still got the AMG and if so can I have a drive ???
