How to stop water entering snorkel?

I finished putting a (drainpipe) snorkel on at the weekend, pretty pleased with it so far. Pictures will follow in another thread. I noticed even though I have a bend at the top that some water is getting down the pipe with the heavy rains.

What has everyone else done to stop water gathering in the pipes? Obviously I can't drill a hole at the lowest point... I was thinking of a small hole on the underside of the pipe, near the top, with a small lip internally just below it to divert any water out while the truck's stationary.

Obviously a tiny bit of water in the intake wouldn't do any harm, but I fear the day it's left sitting in a rain storm and has a filter full of water the next morning.

mine came with a DIY snorkel fitted that has an 90 degree joint at the top. i turn it around when not in use.

Got something similar on already, but even with that on I was surprised how much got in.

Yup, had looked at them but was trying to do it on the cheap... Might be the best solution though. Anyone else done anything with a DIY solution?

From my simple understanding as I have yet to fit mine...

The top bit of the snorkel the (air intake) 90 degree bend bit will catch rain etc as you drive along.
The upward pipe bit of the snorkel tapers in (at the joint with the air intake) say maybe 5 mm but little ridges of plastic still remain the ensure the air intake is a snug fit no change in overall diameter.
I understand any rain will hit the back wall of the air intake and drain out the gap cause by the tapering and plastic ridges...

I doubt that makes sense I'll try to put a photo up

Thanks Tony (& Vultch describing the same thing). That separator is effectively a much nicer version of what I was trying to describe in my first post, think I'll go with it.

Didn't realise there is already a separator in the air cleaner too, that puts my mind at rest a bit. At least you won't be flooding the engine on turn over then.
