  • New Question for the day...

    Morning all,

My question for the day is,

"Is it possible to buy a HID kit for the surf?"

Im sure i seen them not so long back, but i can't remember where i seen the link, has anybody on here actually fitted one of these kits.

I know a lot of people on here have fitted the xenon upgraded bulbs, problem with this is, wouldn't you need to upgraded the wiring and looms accordingly, to accomodate the extra power.

    Any help apreciated

    Regards
    James

been looking into this myself aswell recently, loads of kits on ebay, starting at 40 quid or so,no upgrade needed, just plug in and go,just need to mount the ballasts(about the size of a cig packet)only thing to note is strictly speaking they are illegal, but only cause you cant adjust the beam height from inside the cab,or atleast thats the way i read it,but i will still be fitting one tho

lol im still wanting wanting one regardless,

The one i was looking at was specificly for a surf, it was about £90 tho, but i managed to loose the link, i was going to buy it.

I thought you couldn't adjust the light on a surf anyway, i dont know how to then :S

        Yes

Takes about an hour maybe hour and half to fit. The yearly swap to normal bulbs for MOT takes 20 mins.
        Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

again looked into this alot, the lower the number the whiter/brighter the light, tbh and 50w id be tempted to go for 6000k or maybe 8 which will gve off blue/purple and still be legal, but 4300k will be brightest,if u do get it let us know how you get on with it,before and after pics of diffrence etc

i had a mazda with factory fit Hid the high beam was a slight millisecond pause but not much. prob due to the bulb already being warm from the main lights i think.

wasn't it Andylala or someone that was making up the upgraded looms for these kits a few years ago.
I know if you search back through the forum about 3 years then it will show who was making them
