Like many I did it all back to front. I bought a Surf ( a 2.4), and then while looking for info on it, I stumbled across this place. I joined, and have hung around the edges ever since. Im now on Surf No3 having gone from a 2.4 to a 3.0l 2nd gen and for the past 2 years this wonderful modern 3rd gen. Never saw myself as a forum type of person, but Ive stuck it out here primarily for the info which is available and partly for the entertainment.

I wanted a hilux twincab, found that surfs were cheaper, bought one, came on here for some advice, came across lots of people that I could belittle without them seeing how tiny I am and just lumping me, belittled some people.

I stay because I pop in every now and then to see how people I get on with are doing and throw some smart arse comments around.

What I like about the forum is that I live in middle class thirty something London, have no wife or kids and spend most of my time working or having a drink with my mates that I've known for years.

For me, this forum is a chance to have some common ground with all sorts of people from all around the country and understand a little bit more of the world than the life of a trainee yuppy.

Obviously, most of you are idiots, but I enjoy your virtual company and laughing at you all kicking off at each other. And the thing with the plane on the conveyor belt is still funny.

Like Sancho, I joined to feel superior and smug amongst my intellectual inferiors.

Oh, and I'd bought a Surf and wanted to know what the red button was for too.

About a year ago i started looking for a proper 4x4 & after doing a bit of research i simply could not find a better, more reliable, more able truck than the surf for the money i spent. Feel free to suggest a better alternative!

Was looking for oil/air filter for the surf & stumbled upon this place. Ive been told all i ever talk about about is 4x4's so this place feels like home.

Well apart from it being community service.

I acquired a surf... Lurked here for ages, went offroading with the the then woodzie, stein and co. Went to steins got a lift, watched woodzie transform into biohazard by scaring a dog, went to Wales met more people, had a proper blast, spent more time on in the daytime, shot the breeze with sancho till it became obvious he was a terrorist
moved with work and met apache for curry, went to Scotland met more people, got rollicked for my typring muspronts, watched as the cast of hollyoaks joined up ( for some REAL drama)
forgot to use full stops and capital letters, found it socially acceptable to refer to certain Barnsley members as red headed sex aids, watched in awe as the most fantastic love story unfolded( stein 4 wodders)
culminating in last nights triumphant... Nay spectacular... Return if the good doctor( who he) and remembered that a lot of this place revolves around beer.
The talking about, drinking of, moaning about the after effects of, in fact

Koi......where is that pic of a pick up bed full of beer cans.
I insulted a womble, slapped a trainee Martian and stalked a Coventry member( got me cash back though)
I went back to matts and talked utter poo till dawn. It was great.
                Anyway what was the question...

                Oh yes two sugars please.

                        Bought a Surf

                        Joined this forum

Realised that I had bought a thirsty (16 mpg) truck and had to justify my purchase by stating at every opportunity that I have a V6 Petrol version which just happens to be the most powerful factory engine option (for the 2nd Gen). I also needed to stand up for the use of Petrol against the common as muck diesels.

Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

No hijack here... Move along please.
A while back, this picture appeared of many beer cans in the bed of a pick up... I beleive there was also a picture of a tree based Suzuki braking system.
it's all very relevant as it was conducted at an offroad meet, which is the catalyst for some members joining.
