A Towing Question. Whats Legal?

Took me so long to work it out myself that it was kind of pointless by the time I posted....

And I just checked; an LS400 weights the same as a surf (!) so no dice hoping that it would be lighter and you might be able to trail it.

With respect, I know what a good Lexus V8 looks/sounds like, the body/interior is irrelevent.

well if you can source a V8 within the next couple of weeks then do that then mate.
otherwise ill just buy this one and drive it down to you on a flatbed.
and then get a mate to drive with me a week later in the surf once you have stripped her down.

Basically, in a surf, you can tow a combined weight of up to 1750kg behind it on Category B and you'll need B+E if you want to pull more (which shouldn't weigh more than 2450kg in any case).

That's not how I read or understand it. I thought if you only had Cat B, you can't pull a trailer at all. The +E part is what allows the trailer to be towed.

My son drives a Land Rover (ha ha) at work and tows a tar pot. He is 25 and had to take a trailer test last year, but was allowed to tow up to 750kg without taking the test.

I stand corrected (unless he was allowed to by his employer as opposed to by law!).

Today's word is 'ambiguous' but according to the link Jamie posted, combinations falling into what I described above are considered Cat B.

erm........i was going to give my surf a proper name once this was done.
i'll be getting here fully resprayed in that firey yellow that guy had his surf done on the yotatech forums. the guy with the custom rear bumper if anyone remembers??
then paint my rims black. lift it whatever i need to get 39" on it and then "maybe" get it re-trimmed in cream leather!
i think after the last 2 years i have had i ####ing deserve a treat! im meant to be saving to buy my flat but all that money is going on my surf now! hahahah
