A Towing Question. Whats Legal?

Can't remember how old you are, but are you licensed to tow at all? They changed the law a few years ago so that people who passed their test after that date needed another licence to tow.

Goodcat, sent you a pm with all the specs to the surf for a 3.0 including the towing specs. Hopefully it will be of some use to you. I think the key issue is to use a trailer with brakes. Let me know you got them.

according to that info (provided by roughtrax?! lol) the suref can tow 2500kg. so provided the trialor isnt over 750kg ill be fine!

Without knowing who the assassin is, anyone who passed their test after 1 Jan 97 needs to do another test to get the B+E category.

Weird, as I passed my test quite some time before that and have a tendency to destroy my rear bumper everytime I reverse a trailer, but I suppose that's why they changed the law.

i must be dumb because i cant work out what they are saying!

the limit for a cat b driver is 3.5t in total. thats the weight of 2 surfs. so i can tow a surf with a rope but i cant tow it "on" anything as whatever trailor i use will put me overweight!!
this is ####ing stupid!! the next person i see who works for the DVLA is going to get hurt!
im not having it. im just going to tow the lex with a trailor one week and tow my other surf to wales the next week when Vince has had a chance to strip the lex.
if i get pulled ill just play dumb.

my license needs a change of address as it still shows my old one. i mved from there about 4 years ago so i should get that sorted aswell actually as when i got nicked for speeding the other week, the copper said its a grand fine for not telling the DVLA! he said they will assume im either dead (in which case they will cancel my liscence) or that i havent bothered to tell them ive moved and therefore fine me!

looks like i will have to tow it with a rigid tow bar then? are they allowed on the motorway?
