It's ok to drive it with no gas, but unfortunately it will cost you about £60 to get it gassed up again.

No problem driving it, this will not affect anything else.
Refilling is usually a specialist job, try searching the forums as this topic has been covered several times recently.

        Hi,
I've just replaced the Steering Idler Arm but did not have to disconnect the air con or any part of it although the nuts on the 3 bolts that mount it to the chassis are very difficult to get at but it can be done having said that the bolts were very tight and I had a mate with an Air gun release the bolts First just using a spanner even a quality one was very difficult !!!

don't know if it's the same gas, but when my mate was de frosting the fridge with a hammer and chisel, he got a face full of gas when the side wall of the fridge was punctured!... made him feel a little queezy for a while!
