Question for Irish members (or anybody!)

I was thinking about getting a bodylift kit for my surf.
Problem is, where would i get it installed? Ive phoned a few garages & they've all given me that ' oh no we dont fit things like that' response, as if i was asking them to build a time machine or something!?
Anyone know of a place over here that fits these sort of kits?

And before anybody asks, i dont have the tools, knowledge or patience to fit it myself, especially the steering column extension thingy.

So you don't have some sockets, can't spare about two hours and can't follow very simple instructions..... Of course you can do it man. This particular online portal is always open to offer advice.

And the steering joint extension... Never needed one on my old 2.4
so why not have a NIKE moment....
Just do it.

What prt of the country are you in?

There are a couple of guys in the mtors section of boards.ie who might be abled to make a recommendation.

If you're near Dublin, talk to AC Car Sales off the SCR (Bloomsfield Avenue & Swan Lake Business Park (I think)). They're an independent garage who specialise in BMW, but the guys there are excellent. Talk to Alan or Richie, and tell them Fey sent ya!

Heres were i am at the moment;

My vehicle is a 3rd gen Toyota Hilux Surf (KZN185) 3.0Ltr Td, manual 5spd g/box.

Milners do a bodylift kit for this vehicle;


(i presume the thing on the right is the steering column extension.)

A: What tools do I need?

B: What is the most difficult part of the job?

C: Im a complete dunce at doing this sort of stuff so please bare with me.


If somebody has fitted this sort of kit to a 3rd gen i would really appreciate your input.

btw; i do not have a welding torch, so if i need that im fcuked!

the eight round things are the lifting blocks...dunno what the other thing is...possibly to extend the steering.
no bumper,rad or pants to drop on that job !!

edit:

you really dont need any welding gear at all....if you really feel you need heat for any reason..use the hairdrier

That'll be an 1 1/2" body lift then. Might go for this kit myself.

Does anyone know if you have to cut a bit out the transmission tunnel so selector can go into low range,that was the hardest bit on doing a body lift on my 2nd Gen. But it was a 2" lift.

As mentioned by Graham,do you need Rad drop brackets? Bumper raise brackets? Or as only 1 1/2" do these matter?

Hi Fraser.
As far as I know, you need to slacken off the fuel neck filler, possibly the handbrake, but no drop brackets for the radiator or bumper.. 3.0 litre2ndgen and 3rd gen are a lot easier to do

Simon, i done my 2nd Gen body lift myself. Once i get round to ordering something for the 3rg Gen i'll be doing it as well. Guess its just trial and error

Never had to do the fuel filler or handbreak mod' on 2nd gen.

Has anyone out there done a 3rg Gen body lift??

hey fonecrusher i am gonna do my 2nd gen over the next 2 or 3 weeks, when i get a chance, if i get through it with knuckles intact and your up for a bit of a jolly i 'll give ya a hand with yours..... have all tools and a welder, and someone to opperate weldr :P

Looking at getting the kit in about 2 weeks time. Not getting much encouragement from local garages so i'l let you know what im gonna do when i actually get the bits n pieces, thanks very much Rob, sound man.

nah got a mate to make my aluminium spacers on his lathe, and just waiting for the high tensile bolts from "FIXING COMPANY", they had to order them in... so just need to see what else is need and of i go, i need to do this before i can do my intercooler, http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsit...coolingtop.htm
