I had one of my side indicators 'nicked', right before the MOT. They couldn't get the other one, cos that side of the surf is parked soooooo tight the wall. Like Youngoffroader, I too think I have an idea of the culprits. Not more than 1/2 mile away.
Has any1 ever had parts stolen from their cars overnight?
Couple of weeks ago i went to go to work only to find i had no sidelights, i just thought they were idiots and i got my spare set out the garage and fitted them. now when i started the truck today it suddenly started knocking as soon as i started it, a metallic knock. When i looked at it it seems someone has tried to steal my starter motor as there was not a single bolt in any of the brackets just the wires connected. Again i just went to the spare engine and took the bolts from it and fitted them thinking it would stop the knocking.
I was wrong, it looks like the starter motor has hit the flex plate and cracked it so the knocking is the protruding piece of plate hitting the bolt holding on the metal plate between the engine and gearbox.
So i now know what i'm going to spend my Sunday doing!
Yup - few years ago - we had the boot lid - yes the whole boot lid, stolen from the Cossy. Bstsds, our drive is right under the streetlight an all so they had plenty of light to see by.

no streetlights round here, just us three houses and then not another house for 500 yards one way and half a mile the other.
Well if the hard faced bstds will do it in full view then you place is a haven for them
i know, the truck is going to be kept in the barn overnight now but only last year we had the locks cut of that as well. alot of the local farmers had diesel taken in one night couple of months ago and they recon its the same person that done all of them using a transit van with a large water bowser in the back. But i havent known of anyone being caught for anything like this round here all the cases just get closed when theres not enough evidence.

Thing is you start lockin stuff up an they know there is something to nick behind it.
We never heard owt about it afterwards - stolen to order prob.
Big spikes in the road you need - electric hook up to locks etc. Sort the bugges out.

i nicked the boot lid off a cavalier once!... technically it wasn't stealing though... cos it was abandoned...
oh, and we had the bonnet off a transit too!... that had no engine, so my mate had to hide in the engine bay while he unbolted it, then straight off into the back of the car!...
oh dear, i've just realised i'm a car parts thief!!
