I like them vans, my dentist (he's not mine, I just go to him) is having an older model restored with a Porsche engine and brakes etc.

Only problem is, when you get to a site and want to go out somewhere, you have to take it all with you. unlike a caravan that you just leave there.

Here's a piece of useless information. If you are drunk, inside a campervan, on a public site, with the keys inside the campervan, you can be prosecuted for bein drunk in charge of a motor vehicle. Big fine and a 6 month ban in the UK. That came from a DCI during a drunken blether in BTW in Falkirk...

Never thought about that, So as long as your 'van is not hitched up, you're safe?

Campervan, not caravan. The keys apparently need to be somewhere other than in or around the vehicle.

Don't think that would count as you'd not be in the actual vehicle, whereas in a campervan, you are.

It's a tecnical point, but appatently to get off with it, you'd need to prove you weren't going to drive the camper, which is impossible?

Hmmm, tough one, I suppose you would have to leave the keys with someone else on the site.
Or fit one of them stupid American devices that you have to blow into and prove negative before it will start.

You could shove the key in one of those magnetic boxes in the wheel arch or somewhere similar. It's physically not in your possession inside the vehicle that way.

I found one of them on my Wrangler, it was behind the front bumper.

You could always lie and say you don't have the keys.

Yup thats exactly why i changed my mind about getting one. I think campervans are cool & all but i dont want to be driving around in something I cook & sleep in.
With a caravan you can stop, get set up & take off in the surf & explore a bit.
