Computer genius wanted

My computer seems to have a mind of its own. I have adverts on alibaba.com
I can get on the site, but when try to log in, page does not come up. I can do it on my wifes laptop. Also now can not get on qype.co.uk. It was OK few
days ago, but now can not get on that site even if i switch off my antivirus.
Last thing is my computer will not let me change my home page!
I have put the alibaba site and qype site as safe sites, so don't know what else to do.

Download SPYBOT

Update it and run, let TEATIMER run in the background also.

Second, clear all browser cache.

Download Firefox, this is a program to browse the web with other than Explorer, and also much better; and then an addon called NoSCRIPT

Sounds like Malware, this often messes with your homepage and denies access to some sites.

Download and run this (Full Scan).

Downloaded malware programme and had avbout 1000 problems, all now deleted. Also downloaded firefox and it has sorted problem about me getting on Alibaba.com, but still can't get on qype.co.uk.
Also how do you get rid of the annoying bar just above the page, the one showing previous searches.
Should i stick with Firefox. Is it better than explorer??

By the way i do have advanced system care, which i thought would get rid of all crappy things on the computer. Also use Eset NOD 32.

It could be an issue with your Hosts file. Replace it with a known good one, or build your own custom one.

It's a file in the following directory: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\ etc\

Browse to it and then open it in a text editor, copy the contents and paste them here or PM me with them, I'll tell you if it's OK or has been compromised.

Maybe IE has put it on it's "dodgy site" blocker for some reason!

Albannach is spot on!

Sometimes your host file can be hijacked by Malware or a Trojan etc.

Here's a tested and clean one

Open in Notepad!

You can copy and paste the contents OVER your old one.

I would suggest that you change the properties to "Read Only" as well, makes it harder to be messed with.

That's your problem.

To remove CiD Help, go to Start->Settings->Control Panel-> Add and Remove Programs, then select CiD Help, click remove.

Open Internet Explorer go to Tools->Intenet Options-> General tab->Browser history->Delete->Temporary Internet Files->Delete.

In windows explorer, go to Tools->Folder Options->View then Check "Show hidden files or folders" and Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types. Once you've done that, open "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data", look for folders that have .exe extensions and delete them.

Lastly, edit your hosts file and delete everything bar the text I have pasted below:
