pardon my stupidity but why would you go to all the trouble of fitting anything but a lexus or perhaps a rover v8? i have heard nothing but good reviews about the early 1uz models? if you want more power and want to spend silly money would a supercharged lexus be the best option?

          I pardon no-one's stupidity!!!

I refer my learned friend to post 4. Sound, Ferrari badge, thats all.

Oh, and the fact that it would be about a zillion times cooler having a Ferrari engine than having a posh Toyota engine.

It has been done, I helped a guy in the States with the wiring in his '98 4Runner conversion.
I'll have to get under our 3rd gen and have a measure up.

Early 1uz engines have the strongest bottom ends and the thickest con-rods.
Those (ours) engines can handle 500 bhp without the need for a major overhaul!

p.s. Superchargers can cost 2.5k though.

Has anyone on here done a Chevy V8 conversion? I am currently running a Vauxhall Monaro with 5.7 V8 LS1 engine and would love to have it in my truck!

Here is the other car, sadly my 4Runner is now my economy car for round town!

May as well go the Ferrari option then. Less power, immeasurably cooler!

That engine is too long/wide for the Surf's engine bay.
Plus the torque would spit the rear axle out from under the truck!

Never mind. You'd never get tired of the V8 noise though!
