  • LA Super trucks is it a rip off ????

hello and good evening,iv just been on Ebay and seen a 3" lift kit for a surf from LA super trucks, now i dont know much about this because my lift cost nothing,i just made it out of solid alloy tube and bent some brackets for the bumper no brainer really but these are on for £320 quid or so.
Am i missing something here? what do you get for that?a new engine??
Not going to rest till its broke

They are well made and from what i have seen good quality but it's cheaper to do a 2inch lift .....kits available from www.outrageousoffroad.co.uk

i agree their prices have skyrocketed, especially the tyres. i dont get it though. they put their prices up in the reccession when noone had money. you are better finding people like mark who can do anything it would seem and for much better prices
Completely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!

i think what it is la supertrux is a buisness, they dont get there alloy for nowt, if they bent some brackets for there bumper i am sure they would get some complaints, plus if there body lift failed in an accident i am sure you would want to sue,

i refuse to get involved in this thread.nigel is a very good friend and la supertrux do some excellent work.their lift kits are top spec more for show trucks than anything else, hence the finish of them and why they are so expensive.but for us mud bound folk its easier and cheaper to produce a less good looking kit, thats only gonna get covered in mud.nigel imports most of his tyres from america as well as the shocks and other parts,so import duty hits him big time.and the cost of raw materials has sky rocketed nowadays as well.

If he's a very good friend then you should tell him to defend himself and his company by reading that thread on Elite (and the pick-up forum). He is a member on there after all.
It will restore a lot of people's faith in Supertrux if they know what went on and not from someone elses bad experience/anger.

Really?? I could've sworn you posted here somewhere...

                        1m of structural alloy bar - £20

                        Paint - £5

                        Bolts - £5

Cost of HOME MADE spacers - £30 plus an evening's work.

                        BUT!

The cost of those lathes, milling machines etc - tens of thousands.

Cost of employees - tens of thousands

Cost of premises - hundreds of thousands

Taxes, bills etc - tens of thousands

Yep, the materials are dead cheap, but running a business isn't. They are essentially there to make stuff that some people cannot make. If you can, do it yourself. If you cant, you gotta stump up the cash.

thats a bit small minded,if u run a business, then u know it costs, now take another look at la,and the size of it,then look at people who sell their trucks with the kit fitted, your paying for professional kit, want it cheap?then make it
